The Guild of Help

In October, The Bolton Guild of Help opened a new Veterans support Drop-In Centre at the Bridge Café, Bradford Street, Bolton. The new Centre will offer support to our local veterans, their families and those still serving. Key issues such as benefits and financial management advice and the provision of white goods and furniture will be high on the agenda. But the Centre will also be providing critical support to people suffering from mental health issues including depression and PTSD.

We were honoured to be invited to the Centre and Richard Davies, Guild Trustee, introduced us to some veterans so that they could be made more aware of how our Siberian Huskies can help people who are dealing with mental health issues.

The benefits of getting out into the beautiful countryside that surrounds Bolton are well documented. The benefits of getting out and about with one of our therapy dogs are immense and we are proud to be able to offer this service to anyone in the town who is struggling with their mental health. We can also visit people in their own homes if necessary.

Our lead Husky, Loki, was of course the star attraction on the day stealing all the hearts as usual! This is Loki pictured with Royal Air Force veteran, Esther Davies.

The new Centre is open every Thursday between 12.00 and 2pm.
